January in Arizona
Ethan wanted to go swimming for his birthday. They were all in their skivvies, so I drew pants on Ethan. (I know he will thank me later.)

Usery Hike
This seems to be a common view for me, but I enjoy watching my family in action. I like to lean back and just smile. There is something so peaceful about a morning hike with the family.
Its a convincing time, that yes, everything is ok with my little world.

Yard Sale
The kids are growing.
There. I said it.
As a new mother, I hated the cliches. "They are only young once."
What about the time I took a screaming toddler out of sacrament because he got in trouble for taking crayons from his sister, and the elderly lady in the ward was just smiling. "You are going to miss these days."
I'll be honest. Four kids under 5 was not easy. I was in survival mode most of the time. And now, when my children are at a comfortable stage, I don't remember what happened.
I went to Parent Information Night to meet Ethan's first grade teacher, and I met all of the first grade teachers. I have a fourth grader, how do I not know any of these ladies? Oh, that's right. That is when my baby, Herston, was born. And my world stopped. The scariest year of my life. In and out of ICUs. "We don't know why your child stops breathing." "There might be something wrong with his brain." Although my life stopped, everything else kept moving.
Christmas break was one of the best times of my life. I was engaged in my kids. My life was their life.
But I made a sad discovery. We have been saving things that the kids don't need. Raea had all the beginning to read books hidden on her book shelf. My tall 5 year old was still in a toddler bed.
And the saddest was when my oldest said, "Can I get rid of my barbies?"
She is growing up.
They are all growing up.
So if you have young kids, remember they are only young once. You are going to miss these days
...And you can come to my yard sale to get those toddler items. This Saturday, 1/7/12. Lucky for me, Grant is going to be running the show.
