My Girls 2007

Is it bad to want a lot of kids so you can see yourself replicated?

Monday, December 10, 2007

Dear Me,

I liked the idea, so I am repeating it. The object is to write a letter to your younger self.

Dear Ruth,
I wish I could give you lots of advice like which people to avoid or to just start loving yourself now, but I know, you won't listen.

Life is going to be rough. People won't understand your internal struggles. It's ok. Just keep going.

You know in your heart what you need to do. Once you decide what you want for your life, you will obtain it. It is important to know you chose it. You chose to marry a great guy. You chose when to have each child. You chose happiness.

Oh, and listen to your Mom.

Love,
me/you

Mighty Joe

Thank you for your prayers.

The surgeon said it was the worst lacerations he has seen without causing serious nerve damage. One laceration even went down to Joe's elbow joint/bone.

Joe is in a lot of pain, but throughout everything, he never lost his Joe funny charm. At several times singing, "Walking on broken glass."

In pre-op, Joe even asked me how I felt about Hitler's death date. I was misinformed; Joe was right.

No TV Day

Bad things happen on no TV days. There is more time to be mischievous. Ethan brought his pillow to me and pretended to have a pillow fight. Playing along I took it and bonked him on the head.

I had no clue that he had hidden his cars in his pillow, and I left a huge mark.

Poor kid.

Getting Lucky

I worked on Friday night, so Grant is in charge of the kids. I reminded him of the soccer game, cheer game, and being in charge of the treats. Grant made it known that he wasn't excited.

Well, everything got cancelled due to the rain. Grant couldn't be happier.

Here's To One

Ethan has had no accidents for a while now, including night time.

On days like today when I am just trying to survive, I am so thankful to have only one in diapers.

P.S. If only I knew the key to potty training Ethan was to put him in boxers, I would have done it a LONG time ago!

Not Going So Well

If this keeps up, I won't be sending pictures with our Christmas cards. If I can't get a nice picture of three kids, how am I going to get a nice one with 4?

Tough Love

Today Raea insisted on wearing her "pretty shoes" today even after our long discussion. They are open-toed silver shoes, and it's freezing outside.

As we walked to school, I could see my breath. My babies were wearing long-sleeve onesies under their blanket sleepers then wrapped in their blankets.

Raea said her cheeks were cold, and knowing what I was going to say next she stated, "but my toes are fine!"

High School Reunion

I went to my high school reunion family picnic today. It was so nice. I couldn't believe it; everyone looked the same, but they just acted different.

My tip for anyone with an upcoming reunion: look at your yearbook first. It took some time before I could get my memories rolling. I had gone to school with some of them since 4th grade, but I still had a hard time with names.

(I couldn't go to the formal tonight. I got called into work. Seriously, I work 6 times a month and you can't accommodate me today?)

P.S. If I ever go to an event with you, and I forget to introduce you, I am still proud of you and love you.

Happy Thanksgiving

I am thankful for my health; my run went really well. I am also thankful for my family, and the special candle.
