Feelings

"I'm really mad. Please don't talk to me right now."

Not the usual statement parents like to hear.

However, my heart was smiling when my four year old said that to us politely, but assertively the other day.

Emotions are healthy. I tell my kids that it is ok to be mad. The key is what do you do with them.

When your angry, don't fight.
When your sad, don't hide.

He got it.

And it didn't take him until he was 30.

Salon de Casa

Herston did not like the haircut we gave him, so he tried to fix it with scissors.

I don't think he liked his results either.

Oh well. I've been here before.

It grows back.

The many faces

Our baby

It's hard for me to fathom that I almost let this miracle pass by. Annastasia is truly a blessing.

A constant reminder.

This is your life.

Enjoy it.

The gap in my children's ages has made this infancy easy. It's not my baby. It's OUR baby.

The preschool teacher remarked that I am always holding the baby.

It's true.

I could take the baby in the carseat and run in and run out, but for some reason, this time, the car seat seems too far away.

So I'll hold her.

We will all hold her.

The Tooth Fairy is a union member

We have been losing a lot of teeth around here lately... and even our first canine.

Last night one of our daughters proudly claimed she finally pulled out her tooth. Sadly, her younger sister said, "The Tooth Fairy doesn't come by if you lose your tooth after seven."

Totally amused, Grant said, "yes, the Tooth Fairy is a union member."

Our oldest leaned towards me and whispered, "I don't believe in unions that's why the Tooth Fairy can't be real."

Very early this morning my husband confided in me that he had no money. I assured him it was ok since the union has rules.

I was wrong.

Raea was frustrated this morning when she didn't have any money.

Finally I said, "I talked to the Tooth Fairy. She said she didn't have enough money last night. Either you could have had a couple quarters last night or a couple bills tonight."

Then she handed ME her tooth.

"I'll take a couple bills."

Oak Creek

We just returned from Anna/ Annastasia/ Annie/ Ivy/ THE BABY's first camp out.

Oak creek and red rock crossing was beautiful as ever, but the water level was insanely high making for some crazy rapids.

The kids said they loved their camp out besides the little snafus along the way. (We didn't need that food anyway, sneaky raccoons!)

I love quiet family time with no electronics; Raea & Ethan both finished a good book.

Legos & Dinosaurs

Everyday this week a kid has picked out their activity.

And sometimes if its not your day, you politely take a nap at their table.

Page Springs

We returned to the restaurant Grant used to work in as teenager. Great food. Even better views.

I also noticed everyone was patiently coloring, so I leaned into see Grant's drawing...
