I never had a lot of friends, just a few really good ones.
One at a time.
There was one that stood above the rest... literally. She was a foot taller than me in fourth grade.
I was an average 4'8".
I was devastated.
My friend was always the tallest in the class. Her big height matched her big personality. She was down to earth. She was the epitome of the perfect best friend.
Unfortunately a few years ago, the world lost another angel with her premature passing.
I think about her.
And her height.
And now I have my own.
Everytime I look at my tall little girl, I smile. I see my angel friend in her.
And I couldn't be more happier.
"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul." -John Muir

Many of you have seen this picture of Herston before. I love that he could be so young (3 months), fat, and happy. All votes count, so please go to Lauren Jean Photography, and vote for Herston.
Thanks.
Thanks.

"She's crafty. She's just my type!"
What do you do when you are so stressed out you want to puke? And the near thought of walking in your bedroom sends visions of attacking laundry monsters in your head? Uh, I avoided it all and worked on my crafty side.
Upper Left: Julie had a cute mini class at her house. I officially have a Halloween decoration now.
Upper Right: 7 years ago I painted and reupholstered my dining room chairs. I decided to make a matching table cloth with the extra fabric still hanging around.
Bottom Left: A note journal and matching pen for MOPS.
Bottom Right: I also finally got around to finishing my girls dresses.

HCBC Photo Entry
Against my better judgment I am participating in the Next HCBC Competition. Peer pressure never goes away thanks to my sister judging and my other sister creating the challenge.
Before and After
I retain all copyright laws on these photos, i.e. you can't blackmail me.

Twilight Fans
My friend has worked out a deal with Cinemark at Riverview for the opening of Twilight on November 21, 2008. She can purchase tickets three weeks before the general public. Our goal is to buy out the whole theater, so we know that only cool girls (our friends) will be there. ;)
Anyway, let me know if you are interested. It is $10 to cover ticket and prizes. I need to know for sure by September 15.

Let's Cruise! (Hawaiian for "take it easy")
Herston is finally home again. There is a lot of changes around here so he doesn't stop breathing again, but the good news is that he may outgrow it.
While I was catatonic staring at my son in the hospital, life went on. Raea performed at a Lu'au wedding reception. I am so grateful that my sister was able to take her for me, and that my favorite CrazyMama video taped it! That's Raea and her daughter, Joy. Cute, huh?
P.S. That was my Hawaiian dress when I was a little girl! So yes, Crazymama, I do "hord" some things!

My 6 Word Memoir- You're It!
Here are the rules for this meme:
- Write your own six-word memoir about yourself.
- Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you'd like.
- Link to the person that tagged you (My sister, Jane) and to this original post, so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere.
- Tag five more blogs with links. And don't forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play.
It looks like most people I know have already been tagged, so we will see how I do.

These are the days
My friend recently posted her ode to motherhood, and it was so beautiful I stole her idea.
With my fourth baby coming in less than two months, I can't help but stop and think about how I got here. I feel so blessed.

There is the spunky girl whose heart is so full of love for everyone. She keeps you guessing and loving it the whole time. Is there such a thing as a tomboy-princess? There is also the dare devil little boy that just wants his momma and has a smile that will melt any one's heart. He is soft, little love bug.

The little princess who cannot be caught without shoes and an independence to match. She has a cute smirk because she wants to be in control. Be careful because once you catch her laughing, it is contagious. She is unbelievable.
These are the days. Thanks for the time to reflect.

To Those PG
Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough.
Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.
Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.
Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she's borderline irrational.
A: So what's your question?
Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.
Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?
A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.
Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth?
A: Yes, pregnancy.
Q: Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.
Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.

Going Back & Growing Up
This year I will be going to my 10 year high school reunion and going back to Ripon for the first time since graduating. I have been actually really nervous because I think I am so different now.
Randomly I received an email from a college friend who said she had a dream about me. She wrote: "Ruth taught me that you grow up when you decide to grow up. One day she just decided to be a different person and just became that person."
Thank you, A.
